Metal Cats Are Invading Your Home

Cats have always been popular thanks to their pretty faces. Very nice for decoration, cat objects exist in all shapes and all colors. But today, discover how to make your custom-made metal cat to decorate your home or garden.

You've spotted a cat-shaped decoration that you like, but it's not available in the size you need? Why not make it yourself, in the ideal metal and at the size that suits you? Thanks to DXF file cutting from our John Steel Pro platform, you can cut all the metal cats you want and customize them as you wish.

How to cut your metal cat decoration?

Step 1 – Create your DXF file
You can draw your shape yourself using CAD software like LibreCAD, but in our case, we started from an existing image. We chose a high-quality cat silhouette, converted the image to DXF and then made a few modifications so the file met our needs.

Step 2 – Send your DXF file for cutting
This is the easiest step! To send your DXF file, just go to our technical file cutting platform and drag your file into the designated area 😉

Step 3 – Choose your metal
Here's the last step before confirming your order: choosing the material. Depending on how you'll use the sheet, you'll be able to select a more or less decorative finish and a more or less substantial thickness.

Material choice for cat cutting

For garden decoration, I recommend corten steel, a naturally rusted steel. At 1.5mm thickness, it allows you to create plantable decorations that require no special maintenance. Corten steel is delivered raw (not rusted) but you can speed up the corrosion process with a little trick.
For indoor wall decoration, you can choose 1mm anti-fingerprint aluminum. Very lightweight, it has a nice brushed look that's perfect for decorative objects. If you prefer stainless steel, no problem, but choose a brushed stainless steel that's also thin so you can easily stick your cat against the wall.
For paintable decoration, you can take raw steel that you'll sand before painting it in your chosen color. Raw steel is very strong but can rust, so be careful.

Step 4 – Mount your metal cat
If you made your cat for wall decoration, you can easily attach it using double-sided tape or heavy-duty adhesive sealant (also usable for backsplashes). But if you prefer to screw it onto a support, don't forget to add the drilling holes to your DXF file so our laser takes care of the work 😉
Finally, to plant your metal cat in the garden, simply add a stake/spike to push it into the ground.

Bonsoir ,
Je souhaiterais connaitre le prix d'un panneau/ enseigne en acier avec un chat (type celui qui marche et est sur votre exemple) avec en dessous un nom de 8 lettres. Environ 40X30cm. Merci pour votre réponse
