What metal for a house number?

A house number is placed outdoors. Therefore, you must be careful about the chosen metal to minimize the risk of rust.

🔰 Stainless Steel: ★★★★★
This is the metal we recommend for its strength and resistance to corrosion. A bit heavier than aluminum, you will need to think carefully about the fixing system (a heavy-duty adhesive mastic is ideal). 316L stainless steel is the grade most resistant to chemical attacks and corrosion. This stainless steel, suited to marine environments, is notably used on boats.

This metal is naturally protected from rust. However, we still advise you to opt for an anodized version, a bit more resistant thanks to the surface treatment.

🔰 Steel: ★★☆☆☆
We strongly advise against untreated steel as it would deteriorate quickly with humidity, and it would be a shame to see your creation in bad condition. However, you can venture into creating a street number in corten, this rusty steel that forms a beautiful brown-orange patina over the years.

How to cut my house number in metal?

Choose a metal sheet (stainless steel preferably)
Select the metal grade (316L for example)
Choose the thickness of the characters
Select the letter cutting (at the bottom right of the configurator page, see below)
Enter the desired text, choose the font and height of the letters
Preview the final result and validate the order

How to make a plate for a house number?

Are you more part of the "Plate Team"? No problem, you will see it’s as simple and quick to make as cutting letters. With our configurator, you will be able to choose the shape of the plate, its size, the arrangement of digits... And if you want a unique plate, you can even add the street name (like "American Style") or your family name.

Let’s start right away with the basic steps:

Choose a sheet (stainless steel preferably)
Select the metal grade (316L for example)
Choose the thickness of the plate
Select the desired cutting shape (rectangle or circle)
In the configurator, select the letter cutting
Enter the desired text, choose the font, the height of the letters, and the placement of the number
Add holes if needed to fix your plate with screws
Validate the order

Note, the thicker the plate, the larger the letters must be for the laser to cut them. Our configurator will display an error if the text or the space between letters is too small.
