How to make a hole in the middle of a circular piece

A round hole in the middle of my circle

In this first example, we will see how to place a round cut in the center of your circle. This trick can be useful, for example, if you want to make a custom manhole cover.
Follow these few steps, it's really very simple.

After choosing the material and thickness of your plate, simply enter the dimensions of your round piece (here we have chosen 150 mm or 15 cm radius = 30 cm diameter)

A form opens to allow you to configure your internal cut. Enter the radius of your hole (here 30 mm = 3 cm or a hole of 6 cm diameter)

To place the hole in the middle of your circular piece, simply enter the coordinates of the center of the cut. Regardless of the dimensions of your piece or hole, simply enter the X and Y values = 0 mm

And there you go! In 3 seconds flat, you have a beautiful round piece with a magnificent hole in the center 😉

A square hole in the center of a circle

Using the same method as before, but this time, you'll have to be a bit clever and do a few small calculations. You'll see, it remains very simple.

The principle here will be to keep the same circle of 150 mm radius (30 cm diameter), since the trick doesn't change based on the size of the piece.
I want to insert a square of 40 x 40 mm (or 4 cm per side) in the middle of my circle.
The reference point for placing my square is the bottom-left corner. Therefore, you will need to divide the width of the square by 2 (which is 20 mm) to place this reference at the center.

Here are the steps:

Select the "square" shape in the right panel
Place it on your piece by clicking on it
Enter the dimensions of your square (40 x 40 mm)
Place your shape along the X and Y axes by placing the "reference corner" at X = -20 mm and Y = -20 mm

If you have a square of 60 mm per side, simply place the reference at X = -30 mm and Y = -30 mm. Simple, right?
